The City
This region's lavish fauna and flora include hundreds of species of birds, mammals, and reptiles in an area that blends the Cerrado (a tropical savannah) with the Atlantic Forest. In 2013, Bonito won the Best Destination for Responsible Tourism award among the World Responsible Tourism Awards at the World Travel Market event in London. All tours to the natural attractions in Bonito must have an accredited guide specialized in ecotourism. The daily number of visitors is managed by a single-voucher system; these vouchers are purchased through local agencies and advance reservations are essential, especially during high season (vacations and national holidays).
